ABOUT THE COURSE

The three year Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) programme under the new rules of Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) has been designed by Dibrugarh University to promote career growth in Social Work. The course provides an understanding of the concept, history and philosophy of Social Work and its emergence as a profession with its diverse field. The course curriculum offers the understanding about the need and importance of Social Work Education through Training and Practice in the realm of society. This is a skill based program prepares the students with right kind of approach to face future challenges as competent professionals and opens up new ways for higher studies in Social Work or to work in its relevant field. The BSW course is affiliated to Dibrugarh University and consists of six semesters-- Semester I and II for the first year, Semester III and IV for the second year; and Semester V and VI for the third year respectively.

The Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) 3 year full time programme at NERIM is conducted as per the prescribed regulations and syllabi of Dibrugarh University


COURSE STRUCTURE & SYLLABUS

As per regulation of the Dibrugarh University, the BSW programme (3 year full time) consists of six semesters of six months duration each. The first semester shall focus on the foundation course. The second semester shall focus in the functional area. As per the course curriculum, the student is required to undertake a concurrent field works, at the end of each semester based on which the student has to submit a summary report. Later, viva is conducted on the submitted report. A field based project work has to be done by the undergone BSW students at the end of Six Semester. Details on the course structure is

N.B.: A compulsory course on Environmental Studies shall be included in the 4th Semester Courses, which shall be evaluated externally from the main course structure of the programme and shall be evaluated in grade.

 

 

ELIGIBILITY
A student who has passed the HS/10+2 Examination in Arts/Science/Commerce from any Board/Council recognized by the University with at least 45% marks (40 % for SC/ST) in aggregate, is eligible to apply for admission into the BSW programme.

 


SELECTION PROCEDURE
Selection for Admission into three year full time BSW programme shall be made completely on the basis of Merit. On Successful completion of the course, the student shall be awarded the degree of Bachelor in Social Work (BSW) by Dibrugarh University.


N.B.: Eligibility criteria and procedure for Admission is subject to change from time to time as per the notification of the University.

 


REQUIREMENT OF CLASS ROOM ATTENDANCE
A student of BSW (3 year programme) shall have to attend minimum 85% of total classes in each paper to be eligible to appear in End Semester Examinations.

 


EXAMINATION (AS PER REQUIREMENT OF DIBRUGARH UNIVERSITY)
There shall be six semester examinations namely Semester I, Semester II, Semester III, Semester IV, Semester V and Semester VI respectively, to be conducted by the University at such dates and times as notified by the University. Each paper shall be of 100 marks out of which 80 marks will be for End Semester examination and 20 marks will be for internal assessment.

 


AWARD OF DEGREE
On Successful completion of the course, the student shall be awarded the degree of Bachelor in Social Work (BSW) by Dibrugarh University.
